Wedding Day Dog Chaperone Checklist (Timeline + What to Pack)

If you’re including your dog in your wedding day, a simple checklist makes everything smoother. Use this timeline and packing list to keep your dog calm, comfortable, and photo-ready - without adding stress to you or your guests.

The timeline checklist

4–12 weeks before

  • Confirm your venue’s dog policy (where your dog can/can’t go)

  • Decide your dog’s “moments” (ceremony, photos, reception hello)

  • Share your final wedding timeline with your chaperone

  • Confirm transport pickup/drop-off addresses and timings

  • Check collar/harness fit and ID tag details

On the day

  • Keep your dog’s routine as normal as possible

  • Allow time for a calm walk and toilet break before the ceremony

  • Make sure there will be water available at the venue or with the chaperone and schedule quiet breaks

  • Keep “on duty” moments short and positive

What to pack for your dog

Your chaperone will have a bag of doggy essentials too but it helps to have your own bag of your dog's favourite things and usual items for familiarity.

  • Wedding collar/lead + backup lead

  • Harness/collar + ID tag

  • Water + travel bowl

  • Treats + favourite toy

  • Poo bags + wipes + towel

  • Blanket or bed for downtime

  • Any medication and instructions
